Building, Renovating or Remodeling

Whether you’re building your dream home from the ground up, renovating or a little remodeling; Dream Ironwork has the craftsmanship and creativity to help you transform your home project into a work of art.
3 Things to Consider
  • Design Options
  • Purpose;  cosmetic or safety and by-law requirements
  • Quality; longevity, powder coating and materials
Design Options
The first thing to consider when building, renovating or remodeling a space usually is the design you’re going for or look and feel. With this in mind, your budget is short to follow, our team understands this obvious element which is why we work closely with you to tailor your design to match your planned budget. This being said, our work is custom from the very start to the very end. All of our designs are custom measured to fit each job, with your input, designs are drawn from scratch, built in house and powder coating done locally. We are able to offer anything from railings, spiral stairs to outdoor furniture, all hand crafted with your personal touch.

Purpose
The next major consideration is the purpose of the request. We offer an array of products that meet functional purposes as well as completely cosmetic art pieces that serve more visual purpose. When is comes to a railing or stairs, spiral / straight run and even fencing; the options are almost limitless when it comes to design, so the purpose is important for us. If a railing is completely cosmetic, meaning it serves no safety or by-law requirements, we’re able to tailor the design more vs if it’s a fence surrounding your new pool. Every city has its own by-laws; here is our local Thorold by-law website;
Quality
Maybe not next but definitely a major factor to consider is the longevity of the materials being used, the materials themselves and also back to design quality. The longevity of metal supersedes most materials used in our line of work; wrought iron, steel, cast iron, all, when properly cared for can last decades. Even though the metal is new, preparation is the key to have adhesion and longevity to any paint.  After fabrication it gets sand blasted, from there it’s steam iron phosphate washed (rust inhibitor) which also cleans and degreases. It then receives a Zinc enriched primer powder coat which is cured under high heat. The last step, we powder coat it the colour of your choice, both coatings are applied electrostatically, it too is cured under heat. This allows it to flow and form a smooth and beautiful bond of paint to metal. Once cooled, it’s ready for installation. There is a 5 year warranty on the powder coating.
